The writer Truman Capote was one at least since the filming of his novel "Breakfast at Tiffany's" to the great writers of his time and was a welcome guest in the New York high society. When he read an article about a particularly gruesome murder of a family of four from Kansas, Capote decides spontaneously to research the case more closely and to write an article about it. Together with writer Harper Lee, he begins his research on site in Kansas. Often people can feel the the two writers, that they not here in the province are welcome. After the two offenders are taken, instead of the proposed article Capote will complete a novel to write about the case. The idea is becoming an obsession.
